GTech Resistor Color Code Finder

Version: v2.1.0
Developed by: GTECH Team

Introduction

Welcome to the GTech Resistor Color Code Finder application! This tool helps you decode the color bands on resistors and determine their resistance value and tolerance. The app features an intuitive interface with both 4-band and 5-band resistor support, complete with animated backgrounds for a dynamic user experience.

4-Band Visualization

5-Band Visualization

Features

  • 4-Band and 5-Band Resistor Support: Easily switch between 4-band and 5-band resistor configurations.
  • Color Band Selection: Clickable color selectors to choose the appropriate color bands for your resistor.
  • Real-time Resistance Calculation: Automatically calculates the resistance and tolerance based on your selections.
  • Animated Background: Engaging animation with a bouncing ball to enhance the user experience.
  • Loading Screen: Displays a loading bar while the application initializes.

Getting Started

Installation

  1. Download the Application: Obtain the executable file from the official download link or distribution source.
  2. Run the Application: Double-click the executable file to launch the GTech Resistor Color Code Finder.

Interface Overview

When you launch the application, you will see the main interface which is divided into several sections:

  • Logo and Developer Information: The GTech logo is displayed in the bottom right corner, and version information and developer details are in the bottom left corner.
  • Resistor Body: Displays the image of either a 4-band or 5-band resistor based on your selection.
  • Color Band Selectors: Allows you to select colors for each band.
  • 4-Band and 5-Band Buttons: Buttons to switch between 4-band and 5-band resistor configurations.
  • Resistance Calculation Display: Shows the calculated resistance and tolerance value.

Using the Application

Selecting Color Bands

  1. Choose the Number of Bands:
    • Click the “4-Band” button to work with a 4-band resistor.
    • Click the “5-Band” button to work with a 5-band resistor.
  2. Select Color for Each Band:
    • Use the color selectors to pick the appropriate color for each band. Only valid colors will be shown for the tolerance band (e.g., colors with non-zero tolerance values).
    • For a 4-band resistor, select colors for the first, second, third (multiplier), and fourth (tolerance) bands.
    • For a 5-band resistor, select colors for the first, second, third (digit), fourth (multiplier), and fifth (tolerance) bands.

Reading the Resistance Value

As you select the colors, the application will automatically update the resistance value and display it at the top center of the interface. The format will be:

Resistance: [value] Ω ± [tolerance]%

For example: Resistance: 4700 Ω ± 5%

Background Animation

The background of the application features an animated ball that moves and bounces around the screen, adding a dynamic visual element to the user experience.

Loading Screen

When you first launch the application, a loading screen with a progress bar will appear, showing the initialization progress. Once loading is complete, the main interface will be displayed.

Troubleshooting

  • Application Won’t Launch:
    • Ensure you have downloaded the correct version of the executable for your operating system.
    • Make sure your system meets the minimum requirements to run the application.
  • Incorrect Resistance Calculation:
    • Double-check the color bands you have selected.
    • Ensure you have selected the correct number of bands (4-band or 5-band).
  • User Interface Issues:
    • Try resizing the application window if elements appear misaligned.
    • Restart the application if animations or interface elements do not appear correctly.
